1. It’s ‘Jesus, Take The Wheel’. 2. She isn’t a gospel singer, she is a Christian though.

For Saka, if you know Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard, then I bet we are on the same page. Willie has been known as ‘Red-headed stranger’, and when you speak of Willie what comes to mind is ‘wabash cannon ball’.

By the way, country music’s from the south, and most country singers are christians.

Some counselors and pastors find the implications of this song problematic for some situations. The “let go and let God” idea in this song can promote passive resignation instead of active transformation. There are real problems in life that need responsible solutions. God provides us with the strength and empowerment so we can deal faithfully and responsibly with issues such as disease, abuse, addiction, etc. The idea of “walking with God” instead of simply “giving Jesus the wheel” suggests that God strengthens us so we can change our lives. God helps us take control of our lives, but it is not helpful to suggest that Jesus can take the wheel for us when we can and should take active steps to help our situations.
