Mayor Bill Bogaard of Pasadena has invited Beijing to send their local sponsored Beijing Olympics float for the 2008 Tournament of Roses Parade. Many human rights groups have been actively talking to the City of Pasadena Council regarding opposition to the Beijing Olympic Rose Float of Shame.
The City of Pasadena’s Commission on Human Relations has put out a report recommending that the City should look at human rights violations in China and further suggested the action of having the Dalai Lama as a co-grand marshal of the 2008 Rose Parade.
