Thanks

Greatly appreciate your very kind thoughts but I fear you have received inaccurate information! I was elected Deputy Chair of the Paekakariki Community Board which is an extended arm of the Kapiti District Council. I am NOT a Councillor. While I am indeed the first Asian (and Mizo!) to be elected to office in Kapiti, I am by no means the first in the country. There are also quite a few more than 4 districts in NZ – I think confusion must have arisen from the fact that the Kapiti district has 4 wards/Community Boards. The Board’s role is to advocate for our community’s needs to the Council. It is a great honour to have been elected by my local community and for it to be received so well by you all. Many thanks!
