From the litereature that I’ve read about Darphawka’s prophecy, my knowledge of its root is that it occured during a bout he had with high fever which would cause him to hallucinate. The vision/hallucination he had about white folks coming from “tuipuiral” with good news, was not the only vision/hallucination he had.
It is also important to keep in mind that unlike the Aztecs’ prophecy (from Mexico) which predicted that whites from overseas will come with “fire-sticks” (guns) to bring an end to their way of life and the Karens prophecy(from Burma) that their fairer skin brothers (whites) would return to them with the “good news”, Darphawka’s prophecy was not widely known amongst his people. On the contrary, he and his prophecy became popular only after it was fulfilled, and only people close to him knew of this vision before the whites actually did come.
