    Edvard Munch was a famous 19th century symbolist painter and long time bipolar disorder sufferer who gained notoriety for his ability to channel his passion into vivid art. ‘The Scream’, which is the painting he is most famous for, is the one manipulated into the Google logo.

    The guy responsible for the customised Google logos is Dennis Hwang (Hwang Jung-moak), a 23-year-old Korean computer artist in the United States.

    ‘The Scream’ captured the imagination of famous psychiatrists at the time of its creation, due to Munch’s condition, and has become a part of pop culture and art, featuring in one of MTV’s ads and also on The Simpsons. Its popularity ranks among that of Da Vinci’s ‘Mona Lisa’, Michelangelo’s ‘The Creation of Adam’ and James McNeill Whistler’s Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist’s Mother.

    p.s. The Scream looks like one heck of an LSD illusion.
