Aizawl, Nov 7: The Special Investigation Team set up to investigate the suspicious death of Rev. Chanchinmawia on October 1 gave their report on the investigation during the Mizoram Police official Crime Meeting where they stated that the reverend’s death was not a homicide. The Special Investigation Team’s report will be submitted to the court.
Giving their report on the investigation at the meeting chaired by LS Sailo, DIG (Range) and attended by District SPs, Commandant and SDPO, the Investigation Team stated that although the reverend suffered many injuries which have led many people including the Synod church to believe that he died in the hands of others, the team found no evidence that could lead them to believe that his death was a homicide. The Team held that although they were hoping to find that the reverend died in the hands of others, they had to conclude that the reverend took his own life.
Pastor Chanchinmawia suffered three major stab wounds, two on his chest and one on his throat and around nineteen minor cuts on various parts of his body. He had 10 minor cuts on his stomach, 4 cuts on the right side of his head and a line on his elbow.
