Last month, I spent two days at Pegasus Institute for Excellence. It is about an hour’s drive from the new Bengaluru International Airport. They also have branches else where. It attracts corporates from any brand you can think of. (See picture). Even Rahul Dravid had been there.(See picture)

What exactly is it?
On the website, it says

Pegasus Institute for Excellence is one of the premier institutes in India offering comprehensive outward-bound management training, organizational development services.

So, it’s not technically what the title says but that is how I would like to describe it.

What did we do?
We did activities/games designed to simulate situations you would face in the corporate world. As each activities finished, the faculty gave analysis of what happened and quizzed us on our learning and reflection. It was fun!

Some activities we did

1) Acid Attack (picture)
There had been an acid attack. We had to cross over to the other side using our resources - three barrels and two planks. It had to done within a given time aka SLA (Service Level Agreement).

2) I don’t know what it’s called but here is the picture. Two teams placed at opposite ends. Each team should cross over to the other end. Resources - a plank, a small pole and a robe. No one should fall! SLA - 1 hour!

3) The Organization
This (picture) resembles an organization. The man on the bamboo is the CEO, pulled from all sides. If he sticks to one side, the organization will fall. So he needs to balance it. At the same time, the organization should move forward from where it starts.

4) The faculties
We had two of them, Arvind and Amitav. Both from the Air Force and cool :-). Arvind was into
communication and Amitav was a Fighter Pilot. I feel they had fully adjusted to the civilian world but it’s strategic thinking that distinguish them.

From their profile page, they actually were Wg. Cdr A.G. Kulkarni (Arvind) and Sqn.Ldr. Amitav Chatterji.

Arvind joined the Indian Air Force in 1977 in the Technical Branch and is an M. Tech. from IIT Kanpur. He held key appointments in operational units, including the Command of a unit, and was an Instructor in a premier Training Institute in the IAF before seeking retirement in July 1998.

Sqn.Ldr. Amitav Chatterji has served in the Indian Air Force for 20 years. He has over 1500 hours of Fighter flying experience.

and Amitav was a pilot.

5) What’s missing?
They claimed they have every basic necessity. The food was awesome. The restroom was excellent. It was adventurous to sleep in tent.

The only thing unavailable was ALCOHOL! Thats the only thing un-militarily about the place :-) Did we sneak in some? Well, I don’t remember!

I have some picture below and more over here. If you have a chance to go to Pegasus, don’t think twice.

Not at all! It’s just that I work for a team that has only MEN! Women candidates are hard to find for my team. In fact, there’s just one or two women in the entire division.
