‘Match is over,’ three ministers tell Kalam
June 22nd, 2007 12:54 pm | News | SiLent_Man | 91 ViewsThree union ministers representing different constituents of the UPA have publicly urged APJ Abdul Kalam not to enter the presidential race even as the Left parties rejected the Third Front’s call to support his re-election.
The Left’s argument against Kalam was based on the convention that no president — barring Rajendra Prasad — had been re-elected for a second term.
Jurist LM Singhvi came down heavily on the ministers. “They are members of the ministerial council that collectively aid and advise the president,” he said. “I’m sure the PM will not approve of their comments that lack the sense of constitutional propriety and respect they owe to the president.”

He is the Gandhi of our time, his humble beginning and his rise to greatness. It is indeed an admirable quality that only few possess. It would noy hurt so much if he was reelected a second time.

Sorry to differ with you, Hank Williams. I see him as a dreamer who does not live in the real world. When the UPA government is trying to solve endless problems of the village folks, he talked about rocket science and tele-conference. I think the Soniaji don’t like him because he embraced Narendra Modi a few months after that beast killed 2000 Muslims.

I don’t think Kalam is just a dreamer at all. He is the most able person to lead this great nation. I see him as a person who seriously tries to apply science and technology for the benefit of the masses, especially the farmers. Its an honour that we have a RASHTRAPATI with such a brilliant academic background, not just another non-sense politician. So thumbs up to Kalam for another term..no puns intended though, just personal views.
