Having recently missed the submission date for Microsoft’s Web Rock Stars contest, I was wondering how many mi(sual).com-ers game on the web. In the past twelve years, I’ve won numerous freebies off various websites and online promos/competitions. Prizes I’ve won vary from mundane (tee-shirts, CD-ROMs, DVDs, keychains, a magazine subscription, a keyboard, a mouse, a cordless phone, a toaster) to entertaining (movie tickets, conference invites), to downright mindblowing (prize money, trips, hotel stays, dinners, night club passes, a TV spot on TenSports’ GamerTV).

Not that I’m trying to blow my own trumpet here but it’s just that some of these promos don’t really get the exposure they look for. Like for example, the Web Rock Stars contest was open for almost a month, yet I got a call from Microsoft because they hadn’t reached their desired minimum number of entries yet, and they were calling on people who had registered for the contest but hadn’t gotten round to submitting their entries.

HP’s Microsoft Office 2007 & Vista Promo just ended on the 21st of January as well, with the prize being a HP Pavillion Desktop with Microsoft Office 2007 & Vista preloaded and personally signed by Bill Gates. The next big promo on the horizon seems to be Yahoo!’s Ask The Planet which is for Yahoo! Answers. An XBOX360 and a Tablet PC are up for grabs at the moment and the promo runs till 16th February.

So rack your grey cells a bit, and GAME ON!
