The recent Human Rights documentation of the Chin Refugees is still a hot topic of debate and reflection for all – more so for the YMA. I don’t want to deal in who is right and wrong. My main focus though is the inability of the YMA to counter the allegations and lessen the impact of its lost face.
This issue really highlighted the power of the internet and its direct impact on organisations (if not individuals).When this report came out I was wondering what YMA’s response would be. Needless to say, I was amazed at the lack of it.It has no website of its own to respond to the online onslaught of media attention. At this age one would expect a huge organisation like YMA to have not only a website but a blog to do PR, press releases and so on. This was very disappointing.
This is a lesson for everyone (or organisation). No man is an island. No organisation can be really local anymore. In this age of blogging and social media our organisations especially have got to have an online presence.YMA hotute, please take this humble advice. Kima of Mizohican has done a BIG favour to you with his post but you can’t expect others to defend you – always. You have to stand on your own two feet!
