“The Constitution mandates all states to exercise prohibition but except J&K and Gujarat none of the states follow it. Prohibition is a state subject, I would urge all state governments to enforce to total prohibition.”
- Union health minister A Ramadoss on TOI
Our Union Health Minister, it seems is unaware of the total liquor prohibition in Mizoram!

This man (Ramadoss) is quite a character. Prohibition of alcohol was encouraged in Directive Principles of the Constitution. The Constitution did not mandate it. The Directive Principles, which also calls for socialist economic policies which later proved disastrous, was drawn up as a type of wishful thinking in late 1940s. Not relevant for 21st century, IT led economy. Can Ramadoss take care of lakhs of people whose lives depend on the alcohol industry directly and much more under tourism, exports, etc which could be hit badly unless India is to become another Saudi Arabia. .

tons of bullshit! Kashmir is not under prohibition. there are lots of wine shops maintained by the state. Gujarat is under prohibition but is among one of the top three consumers in the country…bootlegging thrives… one can order by phone and bottles are delivered to your doorsteps like Piiizzaaaaa…….
