AIZOL TIMES –

Aizawl Nov 21: In the continuing saga of the controversial death of Rev. Chanchinmawia who died under mysterious circumstances from stab wounds on October 31 last month, his daughter, Rinmuanpuii, finally spoke out saying while she did no believe her committed suicide, her mother is free from all suspicions.

Giving her story today, local vernacular paper The Zozam Times said the daughter has trashed a general belief among the public that her mother had killed her father saying her mother was not a fool and if she had wanted to kill him, she could have devised other ways which would look like a natural death.

According to the paper, her mother, Rohmingliani, had been diligent and timely in administering the anti-blood clotting medicine to her husband who needed this medication because of his heart problem. Although Rinmuanpuii was not quoted as saying in so many words, it could be deduced that she was referring to a denial of the medication to the pastor which could have caused a heart attack to occur.

The daughter also dispelled all rumours that said the family locked themselves in the house as soon as the body was discovered and said the body was never touched by her mother or herself except when they first saw her father lying on the floor and that everything had been taken cared of by neighbours.

“On hearing our cries of distress, our immediate next neighbour, a lady, rushed into our house from the side door and my mother and I never touched my father’s body after this. My mother is not a suspect and she could never have killed my father, her own husband. In fact, when my mother touched my father’s body in the initial stages, she cried out for us to call a doctor because my father’s body was still warm,” the daughter told the vernacular paper.

Although Rinmuanpuii did not directly say she suspected their housemaid who had been with them only for about two weeks before her father’s death, it was clear that she believed the maid, simply known as Hriati, to be implicated in the death.

According to her, the maid had gone out on Friday October 28 with instructions to come back in the evening in time to do the cooking. The maid, however, did not return at all that day and came home only the next evening. As a result of this, the family decided to terminate her services and told her so on Saturday night. However, with the next day being a Sunday, they allowed her to stay for another day but told her to move on on Monday, the day the pastor was found dead in the kitchen with three major stab wounds on the front of his body.

Answering why they immediately jumped to the conclusion that her father had committed suicide, Rinmuanpuii said it was because of their maid who told them that ‘her master had killed himself’ and they thought that the maid had witnessed the actual suicide. “We later learned that she did not actually see my father kill himself,” she said.

The daughter said she knew for a fact that her father had received two threats during his tenure as Moderator of the Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod and he may have received more but did not reveal this to her. “In retrospect, I am very angry with my father for not telling us all his troubles. However, I know he did this to protect us and to keep us from his problems,” the paper quoted her.

The maid Hriati, according to a former employer, is someone who may be called a little cracked but not a mental case. She has a bad temper that surfaces from time to time and gets angry without reasonable justification. “Her behaviour is very difficult to explain. All I can say is she is a very difficult person to employ. A killer? I don’t think so. An accomplice? I don’t think so either because she did not have the brains for a conspiracy and the police would have gotten out the truth from her without any difficulty,” Sangzuala Hmar, her previous employer said when asked about the maid’s history.

What is the motives, who will benefit most of this tragic death, what could be the motives if not for Money or anything valuable, what is the role of that maid in the household admnistration, why is she not panic or how can she safely said that it is a suicide?if nothing happens, then go back to the crime scene and pick up the trail aND Why the Church is heavily worried and changes their believe within a few days to suicide to murder. What kind of a threat did he got and why?Ask this and you just might have an idea since it wont be difficult to find out the truth, why cause the evidences can be seen everywhere, only they may not be in the right path?

People don’t try to kill themselves by stabbing three times in the chest. It’s as simple as that.
