mizo dishes please?

Any Mizo dishes I can try for my good, English self? I need fine vegetarian dishes, and am keen to learn similarities/differences between Indian and Mizo food generally..thanks..tiger

    Tiger,Indian dishes on the whole is spicy where as typical mizo food is quite bland,mostly cooked whether it is meat or vegetable( a bit like how the English have their Vegetables).A favourite of mine is cauliflower with eggs :Cut the cauliflower into tiny florets,dip it in whisked egg and fry it in hot oil till it turns slightly brown.This is quick, easy and quite crunchy.

    You might like to try this one, Tiger.

    1) cut up the lettuce

    2)add slices of red or sweet onions (watever kind that u like)

    3) cook baby carrots in hot water for a few secs ( just to make it soft n crunchy), slices up in a thin strips.

    4) chop up some few grape tomatoes – Mix all the above ingredients

    5) grindup some roasted peanuts in a food processor (set aside)

    6) in a sauce pan heat-up about 2- 3 tablespoons of olive oil, when it becomes really hot, pour it down to yr salad, toss it with the roasted peanuts add salt n pepper to yr taste.. mix together really well n wallla you have a Mizo salad. ( Its my Mom recipe by the way).

    You can use this for appetizer with crakers n a slices of mozarella cheese. Bon Appetit.

    ok tiger here we go,,,, yum yum
    easy to make, oriental dish
    chillies, onions , bamboo shoot, mushroom, cabbage and soya sauce
    ok grill some onions and 2chillis with oil de sunflower for a minute

    put bamboo shoots and mushroom , add water,and let it boil

    add the cut cabbages (maximum 3 leaves)along with the others for a minute . only for a minute if not over cooked cabbages stinks.
    and then,, add two table spoons of soya sauce

    et voila,, you can enjoy your meal with a fine french wine .

    You can buy soya sauce and bamboo on chinese or arabic shop
    be careful when you buy bamboos , buy the ones which are preserved with water ,, as the one preserved with acid smells tres degulas

    I thought mizo salad was pretty simple onions,tomatoes,lettuce(maybe),ginger and some limbu hahaha!! and yeah crackers n mozarella are definitely not the mizo taste, sorry Bawihteii i dont mean to burst ur bubble but i dont see anyone eating crackers n mozarella with salad or even as an appetizer in mizoram or maybe even in india for that matter, correct me if im wrong!! I know for sure in mizoram we dont know such things as appetizer lolz we just DIG IN!! lolz

    you’re rite spikey, we the mizos never eat those 2 things that i mentioned up there, i thought Tiger is from Abroad so i just give him an idea of how he can eat with the recipe that i gave him. I am not saying mizo eat with Mozarella n crakers… lolzz

    hibiscus the item u mentioned above is a chinese dish, u can even do the same to babycorn as well..taste really great…dip this in a fish sauce mixed with chopped green chillies…really awsome..but be careful *lei lem tel a hlauhawm*

    but u’llneed bekang ro or sumthing for the smell and taste… :P

    or mebbe dried fish…bombay duck is great too…

    traditional mizo dishes are mostly just plain boiled in water,with just salt and chillies,and bekang(fermented soyabeans,and saum(fermented pork fats),they stink bad and is an acquired taste) i love mizo food,but i also know, its not something to cook when u have non-mizo frens over,unless if u modify it abit with chinese sauces or other herbs and spices.mizos did have sesame (chhawhchhi)seeds traditionally,and adding it to boiled pork or chicken or salads can count as mizo dishes i guess..:) i think ar buhchiar (chicken boiled with water and a handful of rice and a lil salt and ginger )is the most palatable mizo dish for non mizos…imho

    my god!!great replies . thanks so much to you all. must go to work now but will reply further tomorrow. to the person who asked..i,m an englishman in bradford, uk. i met mizo culture via 2 friends. one was at first a penpal. i met nasty and another mizo in calcutta in 2003..never regretted it, nasty is a wonderful character..god love her!! thanks all
