Shillong, Oct. 7: The autumnal Shillong gig just got bigger with Mr Big.
Eric Martin, the voice of Mr Big — the American hard rock band that stormed international music charts with To Be With You — will perform for the first time in India at an exclusive one-off concert in the Meghalaya capital this month.
The show, “Festival of Rock: Shillong”, is slated for October 27, a Sunday, and the organisers are sure it will be the biggest in terms of the variety of talent that will be on display. The concert will be a part of the autumn festival extravaganza that will begin at the Jawaharlal Nehru Sports Complex the previous day.The opening act will be Magdalene of Mizoram, winners of the Great Indian Rock 2006, and Meghalaya’s leading band Snowhite.

It is not Mr. Big, it is Eric Martin who was the singer for Mr. Big performing with his band. Many of the songs Mr. Big sang were Eric’s so if you liked those songs he will be singing a host of them. Would have preferred ‘the’ Mr. Big as we knew them. anyway Martin, I feel is one of the better singers so won’t be too bad

I grew up listening to hard rock, but Mr. Big “Hard rock”, may be its a mistake by the Telegraph as the far majority Indians doesnt really how to classify Rock category. Mahse Misual ah tal hi chuan Hard Rock a categorized hma hian tih dik hram ni se. Mr. Big “Soft Rock or Pop”, this sounds more appropriate.

Mr. Big=SOFT?. Wikipedia lists them as HARD. if you listen to all their songs (not just the chart busting occasional ballads), majority of them are very ‘hard’. Throw in Paul Gilbert’s super shreds and Billy Sheehan’s ripping bass, you get a SUPER HARD ROCK band

Some of Paul Gilbert’s songs on his solo albums sound quite “poppy” though. But that’s a different matter

When I think of Mr Big, I think of Paul Gilbert palying his guitar with the electric drill…Awesomeness….Can Eric Martin do the same?…lol…
