Aizawl Aug 30: Even as Mizoram is getting ready for the countdown to select its Idol, Meghalaya is in an even bigger race, which is for the Indian Idol slot in which a contestant from Meghalaya has reached the top four.

Amit Paul from Shillong, Meghalaya, who is still in the running in Sony Entertainment’s Indian Idol contest is among the top four as a result of which Meghalaya, especially Amit’s parents, has sent out appeals to the North East state to call in at the contest to vote for Paul.

Aizawl, Aug 30: A victim of a snake bite who died on Tuesday was buried today at her hometown Darlawn after doctors confirmed that there is no hope of recovery for the victim from the snake bite.

In what is said to be one of the most abnormal incident in Darlawn, Lalnunziri, aged 35 was bitten by a one foot long snake while doing household chores on Monday night at around 8 pm.

Aizawl, Aug 30: A self-proclaimed faith healer has been arrested by the Champhai police for wrongfully having sex with a female seeking healing from the healer on Wednesday.

According to sources, Vanlalvena, aged 35, and a resident of Sihphir Vengthar locality, toured Champhai district since early August preaching the gospel declaring that he has the power to heal the sick. Sources further revealed that he mainly deals with sick women and some have even claimed that their sickness have been healed from his touch.
