Cannabis bigger cancer risk than cigarettes
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008Smoking a joint is equivalent to 20 cigarettes in terms of lung cancer risk, scientists in New Zealand have found, as they warned of an “epidemic” of lung cancers linked to cannabis.
Studies in the past have demonstrated that cannabis can cause cancer, but few have established a strong link between cannabis use and the actual incidence of lung cancer.

Another NIT in North East
Wednesday, January 30th, 2008The only NIT(earlier REC) in North East is NITS at Silchar. Another NIT may come up but not in Mizoram.
NEW DELHI, Jan 29 : The Northeast is likely to have another National Institute of Technology, with the Central Government considering establishment of an institute in Manipur. Addressing the ongoing Social Editor’s Conference, HRD Ministry officials said a Central team after visiting the State has submitted its report last November. The report is under process currently, said the official.

NEW DELHI: IAS aspirants may never have had it so good. The Union Public Service Commission has notified a total of 671 vacancies for civil services examinations this year, sharply increasing the number of entrants to the coveted bureaucratic enclaves often described as the “permanent government”.
