Means do not always justify the end

Monday, July 30th, 2007

Central YMA yesterday arranged a discussion time with members of the MJA on the latter’s campaign against drugs and alcohol.

Members of YMA CEC admitted excesses were sometimes required to extract information. The media, however, pointed out that everyone wants a better society, the means do not always justify the end and that taking the law into one’s own hands is heavily frowned upon by the media and that the media is the watchdog for these kinds of situation

Finally at the end of the two and a half hour meeting, it was resolved that activities of the supply reduction service of the CYMA were necessary for a better society but that these activities should be contained within the ambit of the law.

Chak De India(2007)

Monday, July 30th, 2007

There are two girls from NE who play in the National Hockey Team. Molly Zimik (Jersey Number 6 ) from Manipur and Mary Ralte (Jersey Number 15) from Mizoram. Shahrukh khan is their coach.

The talented hockey duo from the North East. Their school books taught them that they are Indians but Indians taught them otherwise. The only reason they play for the National team is that it is the only National team they can play for. They would love to belong but not to the team that calls them ‘foreign’, and definitely not to the people that call them ‘loose’. So they stick together and play. For the love of the game and the honour of their people.

Watch out for this movie on 10 August 2007.

Be safe, don’t exist BY KALPANA SHARMA

Monday, July 30th, 2007

The Delhi police have given a new twist to the old tale of women’s safety in cities. In their desire to “protect” women especially from northeast India, they have issued a strange booklet. Titled “Security tips for Northeast students/visitors in Delhi”, the booklet sets out tips that are supposed to help women from northeast India feel safe on the streets of India’s capital.

For the uninformed, this might sound an unusual step for the capital’s police force to take. But Delhi is the place where several students from northeast India have been raped in recent years. The booklet suggests indirectly that this could be because of the way the women dress. So once again, the onus for remaining safe has fallen on the women.

Sunday, July 29th, 2007

Another beautiful song from Music and Lyrics.

It goes like this:

It’s never been easy for me
To find words to go along with a melody,
but this time there’s actually something on my mind,
So please forgive these few brief awkward lines.
