RECC launched an improved version of Reva called REVAi on 25th July 2007. It can do up to 80 kmph as against up to 65 Kmph earlier. The new car is priced between Rs 3.35 lakh and 4.09 lakh (ex-showroom Bangalore). It also comes with tubeless tyres :-)

A reviewer on mouthshut estimates the actual running cost as Rs. 2 per km, keeping in mind that the battery has to be replaced after about 45000 kms and the pack costs Rs. 45000.

Besides, there are other benefits too.

GOI offers a subsidy of upto Rs. 75,000 for each REVA Electric Car, for government employees. Karnataka, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Goa and Pondicherry offered road tax and sales tax concessions.
