No hope of Mizo language in eight schedule

New Delhi, April 27: Government on Friday said that in-principle approval had been given for inclusion of Rajasthani and Bhojpuri in the eighth schedule of the constitution, but ruled out any more additions.

Earlier Lalhming Liana of Mizo national front moved a private members’ bill seeking inclusion of Mizo language in the eighth schedule of the constitution but the legislation was negated.

I have really little idea of the eight schedule. What I heard is that we Mizos will be able to write competitive exams in Mizo itself if Mizo is in the eight schedule.

This makes sense to me:

He said RBI has already stated that no new language can be inscribed on the currency notes and UPSC has also expressed its inability to hold examinations in any regional language.
