Union Minister Dasmunshi at the ninth Rajiv Gandhi Awards function said that Rajiv Gandhi faced opposition from his own cabinet on reducing voting age.
Rajiv was adamant on the proposal, saying “We may lose the election, but the future generations will win”, he said.

Will there ever be a CM in Mizoram who would take the risk of dumping MLTP?
Also the Minister said
It was Rajiv’s pragmatic approach that led to the surrender of Mizo insurgent leader Laldenga, Dasmunshi said. “In fact, Rajiv then asked the Chief Minister to quit so that Laldenga could become the next CM”,
This is interesting because the process that led to the signing of Peace Accord between MNF and New Delhi with the stories behind is alive more than ever before after the Peace Fest, with MPC Chief slamming MNF saying the agreement was signed on behalf of MNF and not the people of Mizoram.
