Studies abroad for Mizo students

February 27th, 2007 12:54 pm by Mizopa

Below is an article I got from newslink.in.

More than that, the reason I am posting this is because there are a number of opportunities available in the European countries such as Italy, France, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden etc., and not only the old tried and tested routes of US, Australia and the UK.

These countries try and attract foreign students, and there is even a lot of funding/ scholarships here.

Some websites which could be useful:

* studyabroad.com
* study-in-italy.it/studying/index.html
* edufrance.fr/en/
* edufrance.fr/en/a-etudier/bourse01.htm
I’m sure there are a lot more sites if one does a google search.

Here is the newslink article:

Edu minister finds door to studies abroad :

Aizawl, Feb 26 Mizoram Education minister Dr R Lalthangliana said that he has found a door to higher studies in foreign countries for Mizo youths.

“There is an opportunity for Mizo students to get admission in prominent colleges in Scotland after passing Plus Two here. However, one has to go through a national level entrance test, so just passing Plus Two in distinction or first division will not be enough,” he said.

The minister was giving a report on his recent visit to two Scotland universities, Queen Margaret University and Napeer University at the district institute of educational training (DIET)’s auditorium here today

    Also, at my earlier organisation, I see people doing some MS, MSc, MBA in canada returning to India joining the division I work for at entry level position. In these people, I see no special skill.

    I think one got to be selective about the Univ too.

    Please be aware that Universities in Europe like in Italy, France, Spain, Austria, etc often do not offer courses in English. But there are enough programmes which one can choose and perhaps one can be lucky to find a course offered in English or professor to guide you in English. Often one needs to spend a year learning a language.

    Hmmm, very interesting… The honorable education minister just found out that mizo youths can do what other indian youths have been doing since ages . Or maybe he just found out how to search on google. Doesnt he know that people can use google too. LOL
    Anyway, nice effort Sir. Keep it up

    The argument that cost of living is high and that it really doesn’t matter will apply only if you have zero savings. Even with zero savings, if cost of living is high, the standard of living will most probably be higher.

    Strong currency (Purchasing Power Parity) matters and will kick in once you spend your strong currency savings in a weak currency economy.

    For example, I spend 60 yen for coffee from a vending machine in Tokyo, I can treat my friends to 8 cups at Ram Bhai’s. With 110 USD I might get a room in NYC with cockraches. In india, I can spend the night in a 5*+ suite off season.

    Chutiang zelin, lehkha zir lampang chu zirzawh hnua hna thawh leh na hmun leh hlawh tur a zir a nih hmel.

    In website chu a va lun hmel ve. Tih dan in thiam khawp mei.
