A mining engineer Sawmliana from Mizoram became the first engineer Mizoram to receive a Ph.D from the Indian School of Mines (ISM) University .
Sawmliana is at present working with the Central Mining Research Institute (CMRI), Dhanbad in the blasting department, designated as scientist ‘C’. He is now settled in Dhanbad with his wife and three children and wants to continue working in the field of blast design at CMRI.

helamah hian lead mining a thawk hi they get atleast $100000 a year..chuvangin a hlawk viau aniang but i heard its bad for ur health and u have to go thru like some weird/awkward anatomical checkup to be able to work there..lolz!!

I have an Uncle from California who has finished his Phd in Electrical Engineering at California State College at Long Beach 2 to 3 yrs back, his name is chungtea so I don’t think Sawmliana is the first Mizo to get Phd in Engineering.
