Bangalore, 10th October 2007: For the first time in India, Airtel brings 8mbps broadband internet access for its customers. This is a significant landmark in the industry as it brings to Indian consumers speeds, that will revolutionize their experience and unleash the true power of the internet.
- Airtel Media Centre
Airtel’s 8 Mbps broadband service will initially be available in Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Delhi and the NCR, with a subsequent rollout in Mumbai and Hyderabad, in a few weeks. r
At this time, I do not find this new plan under the tariffs section at Airtel’s website.
If you are ready to spend 2000 INR a month, go for 512 Kbps unlimited – “Unlimited 1999“.

Yes thianpa it is cleverly priced. If requirement is lots of download, then I would recommend 512 kbps unlimitted download from Airtel.
@Mongoloid: Airtel is again quite careful when quoting the speed. They say upto this speed. If you connection is 128 kbps, they will says upto 128 kbps.
