India Desperately Needs Cats
The world’s second largest rice producer, India, has a huge vermin problem. Hundreds of millions of rats are pigging out on rice crops and in granaries and causing widespread famine in the northeastern state of Mizoram.
About every 50 years, bamboo in India produces an over-abundance of fruit and seeds, which rats consider delicacies. Fat, happy rats produce more rats. Once they finish the bamboo, they turn to people food, and then you’ve got trouble with a capital T.

Looks like an easy solution and a good one too,from a layman’s point of view.
I have two questions though:
Do we have big rats in Mizoram(the really big ones we find in various cities of India)?. If so,cats are actually scared of these huge and enormous rats…..so they(lots of cats) won’t be of much help.
If cats only kill for food,then i guess we’ll need millions of them.

Sazu erawh chu kum dang zawng ai chuan a tam.Tin,vai rama bush rat ang deuh pawh lian tak tak hmuh tur ang awm,zuhrei ai chuan an lian deuhin ka hria.Rannung dang ho-khau leh pangang hmul nei lo a bingin an puang bawk.Puang ai chuan ei tur (buhfai) lama harsatna a buaithlak zawk rih.

Sazu lian deuh deuh ang chu an awm chuan zawhte chu an tangkai vak dawn lo anih chu.
Khau chu ka hlau lo mahse pangang hmul neilo chu ka hlau tops…..ka ngaihtuah pawhin ka tim uai uai mai…….

@thirkut. ka ngaihdan chiah. cats an tam viau chuan sazu tam aiin a hrehawm maithei. Cats can really get violent and are not that afraid of human-beings, compared to rats
