On December 22 Fox News reported, citing sources, that the World Bank barred Satyam last February from all contract work at the bank for a period of eight years, effective September 2008.
Satyam was banned from receiving direct contracts from the Bank as a result of “providing improper benefits to Bank staff and for failing to maintain documentation to support fees charged for its subcontractors”, according to a statement from the World Bank.
