Hmmm, so stupid people like rap!
As stereotypes might suggest, those with the most education were also the main fans of opera, classical music, and jazz. For example, 8.5% of the classical music lovers had Ph.D.s, compared with 1.4% of those who favored disco music. And classical music lovers’ incomes averaged $66,000 compared to $44,000 for lovers of popular dance music. Classical music buffs were also inclined toward intellectual fare, such as current-affairs magazines, whereas the rap/pop crowd favored magazines about cars, women, or celebrities.
One “clear pattern” to emerge was a clustering of antisocial tendencies among young fans of pop, rap, and rock. For example, 53% of hip-hop fans admitted to having committed a criminal act, compared to 18% of fans of musicals. (Not all survey results conformed easily to stereotypes: Opera buffs were least likely to take showers and wash their hair, for example, whereas fans of “DJ-based music” were frequent shampooers.) The findings are described in three papers in press in the journal Psychology of Music.

You bring out the age old debatable topic “Do music really influence people”. And I guess this debate too will continue for ages to come, with some arguing it does while others say it doesn’t.
For example, the latest school shooting in Canada by a youth of Indian origin did so after he was influenced by goth music. But there are also school shootings not influenced by music.
Similarly the current hot debate topic at other Indian forums, “Do film stars smoking in movies encourage people to smoke?” is another topic that will go on forever without any conclusive result being reached.

what is their age? may be people slowly become closer to classical music as they grow old…….if they are older then they may have a better experience and seniority in the job, which entails higher income……..
so i think it is not proper to make a correlation without producing the details ….

People who like and listen to classical music would mostly belong to an affluent social class with white collar jobs while hip hop fans would be on the other end of the social strata already. It’s your social class that defines the type of music that you listen to, I would think, and not your age. I know a lot of oldies who wouldn’t give the time of day to Mozart, Beethoven etc. Since those guys in the upper social strata would already have received a very good education with promise of good secure futures ahead of them, it makes sense they’d opt for intellectual reading material whereas the low enders would be happy with the general gossip rags.

If you read bw’s post carefully enough I’m sure you’ll see that it says people with the most education are the main fans of classical music. We don’t know who your thianpa is but you’re obviously better educated than him. And Aizawl is not thingtlang y’know or some slum area. By that token, your reasoning holds even less water than mine.
