Mizoram vs Kerala

October 18th, 2006 2:26 am by TheHumanBot

This is an article from Business Standard. I don’t find much that is news/new for us.

Excerpts

* 21 per cent of Mizoram’s primary schools have pucca buildings compared to 91 per cent in Kerala

* Mizoram’s per capita income of Rs 10,833 matches Kerala’s Rs 11,605 in 2002-03 (CSO figures)

* Mizoram is almost at par with Kerala in terms of households owning TVs, two-wheelers, four-wheelers and so on.

kerela has been a state under the indian union god knows since when, mizoram has been a state only since 1985 (was it??) buildings specially under govt schemes take time to build..so i think we shud be proud that we are at par with a state like kerela..though we are still so young..we could do even better if corruption was less.mizoram has the highest per capita income in india..we shud be proud of that too..

I dont know why we are compared (or compare ourself) with Kerala….Personally I think they suck….some of the jokes my south indian friends often said are:

If you see a Mallu and a snake on a road…dont even bother to kill the snake..kill the mallu first…

If you have two bullet and you are in a boat with two snakes and a mallu..shoot the mallu twice to make sure that he died…

Its a known fact that both Mizoram and Kerala have high literacy rate…and I have observed that we both are abit communist…..

Education as practised in Kerala and Mizoram (studying or learning to avoid working or manual labour) is not the key….to success in life…And I think Mizoram should learn from Kerala mistake…that too much education is not good..though knowledge is surely important in life..its our actions which counts…

In Mizoram, most of us goes to school and college…and we think education is the only way to sucesss…and we only finds it out when we complete our education that education is not everything….by then we are too lazy to follow our dreams or what we want to do in life…so we end up working for others….or doing things other wants us to do…

In other countries or states, you will find so many millionaires…who dont have college degree (Michael Dell, Bill Gates etc.) and these people follow their heart desire…

To me the most successful nations in the world are: The Germans, The Italians and The brazilians…cos they have so much passion in their lives in comparision with other nations..and maybe for this reason…you will find the germans, italians and brazilians the most successful nation in football, motor racing and other sports..(sports which involves all nations not basketball, American football stuff)

Education dont teach you how to win life…To be successful one must follow his heart desire…and not what the books have said..for books are written by men…and we must also learn how to care for others…The greatest confusion in the world is that we love things and use people when we should be loving people and use things…

Mallus are everywhere in the world…and they will do almost anything for living cos …life sucks in kerala….and what is the next steps for Mizos? We start working in call centers…start going to US, Japan and other countries..cos life sucks in mizoram?

I was born an intelligent but education spoils me….

Bill and Michael Dell are irrevelant here. They were in Sillicon Valley, the right place and at the right time. America find it difficult to create another Sillicon Valley within America.

Had Bill sold DOS to IBM instead licensing it, he would not be the Bill of today. He did not write DOS, he bought it from Seatle Electronics.

Education is important. Everybody trying to stay in Mizoram competing for Govt Job is the culprit.

Regarding without college degree, don’t bring in people without one. It is your duty to make use of your college degree.

Right after the dot come doom, I read of this joke.

People realised dropping out of College after reading HTML for dummies was not a good idea after all

Just becuase Bill, Dell, Jobs did it, it doesn’t mean it will work for everyone.

Hotmail was founded by Sabeer Bhatia who passed out from Standford. Google by Larry and Sergey, Yahoo by Jerry Young . All these three people were Ph.D students in Standford .

Hmmm…what they forgot to mention is the difference in the GNP’s (GDP’s?) of the two states. Let’s not kid ourselves with the (probably doctored) per capita income of Mizoram – bet the high figure is due to the fact that a disproportionately large percentage of the Mizoram population is made up of govt employees.

And the school drop out rates in Mizoram is a cause for serious concern. From my own experience, about 80% of my classmates dropped out at the 10th standard!
