Goldmumbai
3rd December Sunday – woke up at 6 am since I needed to catch my flight which leaves at 9 am. (Kingfisher.. thank you Mr.Mallya for your hot air hostesses (or stewardesses).
It’s the first time I’d seen a sunrise in 321 days. Id almost forgotten what the rising sun looks like.
Isaac and E. and my office mate dropped me off at the aiport in Raj’s beat up Esteem. Since Raj is a friend whoz always in need I chipped in for the fuel.
2 of my colleagues were to accompany me on this trip and one of them obviously hadn’t flown before.
As the plane was about to take off he was muttering something and holding his seatbelt tight….which prompted a pretty stewardess to offer him some water and she then asked me to come to the back have a cup of tea with her but then I realized that part was just a dream.The flight was uneventful but was occasionally punctuated by loud bursts of laughter from my colleagues who were watching a comedy show. .. sometimes when u you have earphones on you tend to laugh louder or talk louder and the same applied here… more disapproving looks from the stewardesses… nope they were no longer interested in taking me to their hotel when we landed… I did have a one in a million chance of making that happen before we got on the plane…
The onboard entertainment system was showing the making of the Kingfisher swimsuit calendar 2007.. (another round of applause to Mr.Mallya please….)
Landed in Mumbai.. took a taxi to Navi Mumbai (New Bombay) which is about 1 minute away as the Boeing 747 flies but we were in a Maruti Van so that wasn’t as quick…
Checked in to our hotel – we had reserved three rooms but this apparently was the best hotel in new Mumbai so things were tight and we got only two rooms. Since there were three of us we drew lots and I got a single room.. but unfortunately due to some changes in our schedule my non flying friend had to share the room with me for 2 nights. (okay you can make your gay jokes now….)
We later checked out the pool.. the spa and other stuff… I don’t like to boast but Id never been to (or in) a spa before Now the pool was dotted with lots of ‘firangi women’ in their swimsuits.. ah a man could live here forever (if only someone would pay for my room ..)
4thDec approximately 4am in the morning: my room mate wakes me up to ask me if ive set the alarm for 6 am. I throw him off the 5th floor balcony and go back to sleep.

ill be honest… its a huge single bed. i try to make myself as small as possible and curl up on the edge of the bed…yup its a lot of fun

update tomorrow… its pretty boring in here.. staring at powerpoint presentations and trying to look intelligent and also nod after every “hope tht was clear to you” (although you were still dreaming abt that pool back in the hotel)…

Poppet, I’d forgotten all about your Mumbai trip with all the excitement of uh never mind…what an exciting time you’re having lately…getting to hold Sailova, oh well, an integral part of him anyways, getting to see the sun rise (yes, the sun really does rise every dawn…now you know it’s not just an old wives’ tale), checking out hot flight attendants, breathing in the moist Mumbai sea breeze, letting the firangis check you out in your teeny weeny g-string…ah life.
