Homesick

I know most of you out here are familiar with the feeling, the homesick-iness fever, especially after the festive seasons. You may have the perfect life; the perfect circle of friends and a perfect ambience around you still feel blue and homesick. It doesn’t matter how many times you crack up, its still not home and you still feel homesick.

There are times when you just miss your mom’s home cooked meals. You may have all the inter-continental cuisines and seafood but sometimes they just don’t measure up to your mom’s cooking. Maybe because it is served with love, I don’t really know ;-)

You may have all the super huge malls and coffee days to hang out but you still feel homesick because they don’t stand a chance against your Y.M.A benches and its just not the same because it’s still the same “VAI RAM”. After all those benches hold us along whenever we needed to gather up ;-) I’m not saying I hate it here; it’s just that sometimes you miss being at home. You miss being with parents, people you can dearly count on no matter what. People, who would walk with you, pray for you and just be with you. People you grew up with, people you went to church with.

You know you are safe there, and you can take a break knowing that things would be perfectly fine when you get back.
And I miss the feeling of belongingness, like you totally own up the place.

Let’s face it; things are just not the same. I heard even the “Goldflake cigarette” is different and I know for sure that the “Kumar’s” here are not the same as my neighbor “Kumar” who hardly show any sign of being a South-Indian.

Being away here has benefited me in a lot of ways and I heard there’s a saying that goes “Absence makes the heart grow fonder” but there’s the other one which also says “Out of sight, out of mind”. I don’t really know which one holds true and I’m definitely not here to judge.

I’m talking about the place deep down, which makes you feel nostalgic and make you wish you were somewhere else, just the thought of it warms your heart, that special place i labeled “home”.

All I’m saying is that there is definitely no place like home and I do feel terribly homesick from time to time. Is that so hard to believe?

Dude, where are you? Come to Bangalore!

Awwww poor you, if you still have a Mum at home to cook meals for you, why don’t you go home once in a while then? Get back to your roots, touch base, recharge…. Home is where the heart is, after all.

Maybe it’s not the same with everyone. I’ve been eating my own cooked food since I was 8 :-)
