YMA is not all in all

It was disturbing to learn that the Young Mizo Association has become involved again in a matter which is completely outside its purview and jurisdiction, that is if one can say YMA has any jurisdiction at all. This is in regard to the Sakawrhmuituai YMA group prohibiting the establishment of a certain church denomination at Nausel village. It has prohibited this church denomination from establishing itself citing objections from the locals, which probably means members of the Presbyterian Church, the biggest church denomination in the state. The YMA has also ordered the prohibited church members to dismantle the church they have built. This is completely in contradiction to democracy and the Indian Constitution which gives every citizen a right to practice his religion

My comments:

There are so many other instances of the YMAs wrongdoings – the murder of the young man in Mission Vengthlang, the burning of houses of people selling liquor (even if they do sell, it is the government to enfore the laws, not the YMA), the way they beat up a taxi driver who reported an article left in his car, saying that he had planned to steal it, etc etc…..

I am sad to see how Mizoram is degenerating because of the YMA taking power into its own hands and disregarding the fundamental rights of people.

Yup Bubble Toes, it is kinda interesting :)

I think it’s because of the unemployment in the state. Small time people in the YMA would like to think they’re important, but so far (till about a year or two ago), no one gave them a damn.

So now that they’ve got a bit of importance these days, they’re trying to act important. If you look at most of the office bearers of the YMA in most places – villages, towns etc, you’ll see that most of them do ot hold regular jobs etc; – and i would think not because of lack of opportunity, but because they’re not capable. So how else do they show theyre important than indulging in all spoiling other people’s happiness. It’s the same with the RSS or the Shiv Sainiks.

So even if they do such things, I would rather blame the state government than the poor YMA guys who are just a victim of the apathy of the state’s ineffective functioning.
