I reached home a little early that evening. There was my angel June at the door, looking good and fresh, with her black and shinning hair. For men I can sum that up in one word “Sexy”.
It took no time to figure out she must have showered a few minutes earlier. Ladies, that’s the way to greet your hubby! Having worked hard all day, it felt real good to have someone like June to greet and hug you at the door.
After a quick bath, I find myself filled with great new ideas for our story. Then I heard June calling “Honey, aren’t you helping me out in the kitchen this evening?”
June’s a great cook and knows her onions. However, I like helping her in kitchen, cooking, cutting vegetables for her and whatever it takes to stay close. I love her hair, her every move and her every words. Even though we had married for years, I still have a big crush on her. I and June makes great companion. We can chat forever. This was exactly why she was missing me in the kitchen that evening.
With my work laptop, I joined June in the kitchen. I got myself a seat at the dining table where June had banana milk shake ready for me.
Before she asked I explained
“We got this important customer in South Africa who implemented our clustering and distributed resource scheduling solution. Within a span of 12 hours, they got over two dozen migrations which isn’t normal. I have over 300 MB of log files to analyze. The management wants me to provide a solution before end of day tomorrow”.
Too much jargon for June.
I hated having to lie to her. She didn’t question me because she knew when to leave a man alone. I did see the doubt in her face but I had no choice. I wish I could fake better. With smart lady like June and poor liar like me, it didn’t work very well. The truth was that I wanted to work on our story which I knew she would love as much I do if not more.
Having no companion to chat, she started singing.
Za leng hei zawng zingah hian
Ka thiam ber mai eirawngbawl
Vawin tlaiah hian in maw
Min pui lo mah la a pawi lo
When the sweet and melodious voice of June filled the room, I succumbed to the sound of music and couldn’t work anymore.
Hence, the delay in our story.
