Bangalore may stay awake late again. Pubs to be opened upto 1:30 AM and eateries upto 2. Thanks to the tourism department that wants Bangalore to stay alive.
It’s been the media’s favorite news and much discussed at youth gatherings.
A blogger (bangalore.metblogs.com) asks these questions
) Do establishments have no right to determine what time they want to stay open for customers? Shouldn’t they be allowed to decide their closing timings?
2) Has crime and accidents really reduced because of the 1130 pm deadline? Are there statistics?
3) Doesn’t the law enforcement authority in any city have a responsibility towards its citizens to make sure that they are safe on the streets – ANYTIME during the day or night? Why just 1130 pm?

I’ll answer the questions with a few questions:
Did the US bring down crime rate by their prohibition or did it increase it, (I’m talking ’bout the Mafias?
Are we, the Mizos with our total prohibition in any way reducing liquor intake or are we making it so valuable that we spend upto a grand on a bottle and giving drugs a big welcome as well?
Is Bangalore any different?
