Apple iPhone hits stores (the wait is over) on June 29 in US. Dealers in India are confident of an unlock (meaning you can use GSM sim from any provider) version, 1000-1500 bucks for unlocking.

And those features are plentiful. In some ways, the iPhone is more like a palmtop computer than a cellular phone.

But in India, grey market operators say they can “unlock” the phone for just Rs 1,000 or Rs 1,500 so that it can be used on any network in India. “Unlocking the iPhone isn’t tough,” said a dealer in central Delhi.
