Bamboo seeds for fertility

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Do we believe that everything happens for a reason and for our own good? If this report is true and works on human, it could be a great blessing for infertile couples.

June 27 : It can tweak the fertility of rats, believe many in Mizoram. Now nutrient-rich bamboo seeds are going straight from the jungle to the Mizo menu and even the bedroom!

A couple, Thara and Dawngi, had been married for nine years but had remained childless. Things, however, changed when they tried the seeds.

“The last thing we tried was bamboo seed,” Thara said. Today Thara, a grocer by occupation in Aizawl, is the proud father of a son.

Going a step further, the Mizoram Police 3rd Battalion Police Wives’ Welfare Association is making pickles out of bamboo seeds for sale – and has been making profits too!

Police Officer apologized to MZP

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Update: Operation Joshua – Ramri Humhalh Kawngzawh (lawrkhawm)

Police officer who gave the order to dismantle MZP built Zorun ( reportedly at the cost of two lakhs!) apologized to MZP in writing. The new is posted at lawrkhawm and Zonet.

Zorun thiat tura police-te thu petu police officer chuan MZP hnenah ziak a ngaihdam a dil avangin MZP chuan a ngaihdam.

Hemi chungchang hi nimin khan MZP executive meeting chuan an ngaihtuah a, police officer thil tih chu hriatthiam theih nia hriain “Zorun sak thiah a nih chungchangah MZP hnena ngaihdam a dilna chu executive meeting chuan a pawm” tiin thuchhuah a siam nghal.

He police officer hian “He Zorun sak tawh thiah chungchangah kei leh ka nauten hma kan lakna hian in pawi ka lo sawi a ni tih chanchinbu leh TV atanga ka lo hmuhin pawi ka ti tak zet a, in mi ngaihdamna sangber ka dil tak meuh² a ni” a ti.

What is the need to apologize? Isn’t the officer, as law enforcement person doing his job for whatsoever reason? For a sensitive issue such as this, I assume he would have acted on the advise/order of his superiors.

SUPER Converter – Converts anything

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Chhanga pinged me over GMail web chat, a month or two ago. “Super converter – Converts anything”, he said. I have in the past tried applications (all in vain) to convert videos from one media format to another. Most of the time – to reduce the size. Super converter is a blessing to me. It serves my need. It’s also free.

1) Run the application

2) Drag the source file into the application (there’s a box at the bottom)

3) Select the output container. My favorite is mp4. Small size and hardly any loss of quality that I can notice

PWD style wedding

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

May be the first, and maybe a history maker. Just smile and read the news, this is the real one in a million.

Marriage in a law court is a rare occurance in the Christian-dominated state of Mizoram. Marriage in a ‘PWD Court’ with a PWD junior engineer as a priest is rarer. But, this is what has taken place at Serchhip a few days back. Lukhi Ram, a muster roll employee under the Mizoram Publick Works Department, and his Mizo lover Zothanpuii of Serchhip town have come across all the barriers to tie the nuptical knots under a makeshift PWD law where an alkatra (bitumen) barrel can well serve as an altar. The marriage ceremony which took place at Serchhip a few days ago, was short and simple; the JE Lalsangliana Sailo administering the oath-taking, followed by a few lines of ‘Dil Dil Dil Dewana’ from the witnesses, and garlanding.
