Today is M.H.I.P Day. It’s a State Government holiday in Mizoram. All schools, bodies under the State Government are closed.
MHIP which stands for Mizo (Mizoram?) Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl is women association for women. Samaw.com has a brief write up .
The state government declares 21 holidays for 2007. Twenty one!
In my organisation, I have the option if North and South Indian holidays. Since it makes sense to take a day off for local holidays, I go with South Indian holidays. There are 10 holidays I enjoy. The earliest holiday coming is Aug 15 only

with all due respect…21 working days is an awful lot of public holidays…that is not counting the days off between Christmas and New Year when all the offices standstill…..

No holidays in my organization, except 6/7 monthly day offs…

so how many working days do we have. 365 minus Saturday & Sundays, Holidays and Restricted holidays (I dont know how many can a govt emp. enjoy) minus the casual leave.

YMA Day hi chu om ve tho mai… Hmanlai atanga kan pawl neih len leh Mizo Zia thangtharte hnena hlanchhongtu pawl anih thin avangin Mizo tan hian a hlu ve a.(tunlai YMA ang hi ni ngai heklo a hma te kha chuan). Tin, MHIP Day hi chu kan puten an nupuite an ngamloh vang te poh niang. Khumah lehlam hawia ke artuia mawng an chhin tlata an kuangkuah tlat te poh an hlau ni maithei sin.
