Guwahati, July 29: The ongoing drive to deport suspected illegal migrants in frontier States of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram threatens to snowball into a major controversy creating a communal divide between the majority and minority communities in Assam.

The situation has started taking ugly turn with reports of clash between the two groups in Kalaigaon area on Saturday after a bus carrying suspected Bangladeshis, mostly women and children, deported from Arunachal Pradesh, arrived. The Aasu, ABSU and BJP activists intercepted the bus and wanted their identification before they are allowed to settle in village areas. Some miscreants also pelted stones on the bus carrying people from Arunchal Pradesh.
