Aizawl, Sept 23: The Ministry of Women & Child Development has given an order to the state government for expeditious disposal of child rape cases.

The Ministry of Women & Child Development also demands that the state government follow the guidelines for disposal of child rape cases drafted by the National Human Rights Commission. The order was sent to the Secretary of Mizoram Social Welfare Department by Dr. Loveleen Kacker, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Women & Child Development on August 6 after the Ministry was informed that child rape cases are not speedily dealt with in the state.

Aizawl, Sept 23: The state Home Department is still puzzled how to use the 4.5 lakh rupee polygraph machine (lie detector) which it had purchased in 2004. Reports have stated that the highly expensive machines have not helped in solving one single police case as there are still no expert operators of the machine even after three years of its purchase.
