Zirtiri College goes online

November 2nd, 2007 2:05 am by trekkerboy

The pure science college in town Governtment Zirtiri Residential Science College has launched it’s website: zirtiricollege.ac.in . Congrats to the college. I am impressed to see that they did not come out with .com top level domain like other college(s) in Aizawl did.

I followed the menu Zirtiri -> Departments I get empty page. I also tried Zirtiri -> Prospectus to see what courses the college offers, but I see none. I hope they fix this soon.

Zirtiri -> Staffs shows names of teaching staff and non-teach staff of the college with land line number and even mobile number!

1) The word staff used in this context is both plural and singular. It’s staff. Not staffs.

2) What they call Do Not Call Registry has been implemented in India. Showing personal mobile numbers on a website publicly accessible is a bad idea.

I also checked out the admission form for BCA which is drafted as an application to the Principal beginning with “I beg to request you kindly admit me in the”.

I see beautiful girls and boys in this picture. The dude with black and back outfit resembles that rapper called “Jackal”.

Besides DOEACC centre at Thuampui, is this college the only place that offers BCA course under Mizoram University? Has the first batch of BCA from Mizoram University passed out? Has anybody had a look into their syllabus?

38,680.00 INR is the cost of three year BCA course.

MZU lists the following departments at its website:

Department of Mathematics & Computer Science
Department of Information Technology
Department of Electronic Engineering

I click on each of these but found Page under Construction.

This was future posted.

    Nice.. :D

Reminds me of one of those one-page daily newspapers… “College Week 2007″ being the Editorial Column and the “College Notices” “Vawiin Thuvawn”.

Ben, here are the answers to a few of your questions:
    1. Other than DoEACC and Zirtiri College, Serchhip College is also offering the course under MZU. There’s a College (It may be Baptist College or something) in Lunglei offering BCA but I’m not sure its under MZU.

    2. The 2nd batch of BCA passed out this year. I’m on the first batch. Most of my classmates find work in NIC, SSA, ICICI, Bajaj Allianz and in schools like Home Missions School, St. Paul’s HSS etc.

    3. The syllabus is under revision but as far as I know, changes have not been implemented yet. Our syllabus was:
1st sem: Maths, Personal Comp. Sys., English and Buss. Comm.
2nd sem: Comp. Org., C, Mgmt. Info. Sys., System analysis n design
3rd sem: Data Structures using C, Accounting and Fin. Mgmt., Numerical Analysis, Internet and web tech.
4th sem: DBMS, Unix, C++, Comp. Graphics
5th sem: Networking, S/W Engg., E-commerce, DBA using Oracle
6th sem: VB6 and Project work.
The syllabus isn’t that different from other Universities. But like all educational courses in Mizoram, student and faculty standard isn’t that high.

    Some notables:
    1. Serchhip College started the course 2 years after the other 2 institutes. Next year, I think, will be their first 6th Sem exam. In the first 2 exams, Zirtiri College got the 1st position and DoEACC secured the 2nd.

    2. Zirtiri College usually take only Science students while DoEACC accepts students from all streams.

    3. In every semester exam, there is always somebody who managed to procure the ‘suggestions’ from their teacher. These ‘suggestions’ are usually 50-90% similar to the University Questions.

    4. The final semester’s project carries 300 marks. These projects are evaluated on the basis of a presentation given by the student as well as the project report book submitted. There is no live demonstration of the project and your fate lies on whether you could convince the examiners with your presentation and project report. Nobody checks how good your project is or even if you really did the project.

    5. The University filled up my Migration Certificate with a SKETCH PEN!!!
