Aizawl, Nov 24 : Mizoram Minister Dr R Lalthangliana, presently on an official tour to the United States, has proposed to establish the ”Laldenga Institute of Peace” in the state in a meeting with officials of the United States Institute of Peace.
An institute of peace while “Murder and rape cases on the rise in Mizoram“?
The MNF gave up arms but is there really “PEACE” in the state today? Where was PEACE during the two terms of Congress led Government?

Isnt it ironical that a Peace institute be established in the name of an erstwhile insurgent, underground leader who took so many lives? The end may have been peaceful, but what about the means? Doesnt bloodshed, violence, causing terror to innocent people culminate to being anti-social and unpeaceful? So what’s this new song about glorifying Laldenga as a “peaceful” hero? Funny!!!!

Laldenga did not deserve to be a man symbolizing peace, nor is an Institute of Peace named after him! If Laldenga deserved such an honour, perhaps Lal Thanhawla deseves it more because it was him who stepped down from his Chief Ministership to make way for Laldenga in order to make peace for the people of Mizoram…! However, neither of them deserve such a tribute given to them..in my opinion!

Who pays for the cost of minister R.Lalthangliana’s holiday in Bushland a.k.a. USA ? If he is traveling there at state government cost, it is sheer wastage of money as farmers are facing starvation since their hard earned foodgrains are eaten up by real rats while their share of BAFFACAS were snatched up by human rats a.k.a. corrupt persons and their affiliates. Perhaps he travels to Bushland at his own cost since he probably own a fat bank account. After all, he is not exactly well known for integrity and fiscal honesty.
By the way, why is he called ThangTEA. He is R.LalthangLIANA. He is not small, not his income anyway.

I dont think even he will think putting Mr. Laldenga and Peace in the same sentence appropriate.
Being an intelligent man he know that this will give him many plus point within the party, by the party leaders and the villages party workers.

concept of PEACE as understand by MNF and what PEACE really means to human kind are totally different.. to the MNF – PEACE generally means comming out of the jungle and not included in the rebel list… free of such insurgent groups etcc…
On the contrary, PEACE as the World understand it, means a state of harmony, the absence of hostility and absence of poverty. Peace can also describe a relationship between any parties characterized by respect, justice, and goodwill. Do you think we have this kind of PEACE …. way to go dudes

We used to have “PEACE as the World understand it i.e. a state of harmony, the absence of (large scale) hostility and absence of (acute) poverty” That was before 1966.
I notice that some people equate anti-MNF writings as anti-Mizo posts.
MNF and Mizoram are different things. So too are George W. Bush and America.

I totally accept @keimah at comment 4 and @Band at comment no.13 that Laldenga would be inappropriate to symbolize with PEACE. However, I dont think @Katsumoto “PEACE in the name of an underground leader???????i wonder how he got the guts to propose that to an eagle who thirst for blood and oil…” is not the way we should give comment on our foregone leaders. Did anybody say that Subash Chandra Bose was a killer? A Rapist? a thirst for blood? Laldenga had his own way of fighting for Independence from the Government who did try to perish the whole Mizo nation, starve to death. We may accept his views or not is different thing, It is that HE Had Done His Best for the country (Mizoram). and I think we should respect the nationalism he inplant in the hearts of all the Mizo. Contrarily, it was the Indian Army who raped and skined your fathers and mothers, it was the Special Forces who killed the innocents not the MNF (not the same MNF we have today). Of course, on the other hand, as I said before, it will be inappropriate to symbolize him with peace. But we should respect for what the good things he had done for the country. All of our political leaders were once his followers, except Brig.T Sailo (Just because he was in army and could not joint the volunteers!!!).
