After mobile number portability, comes yet another good news for consumers in India. If RBI’s proposal is implemented, we will be able to use any ATM for free.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has proposed free ATM (automated teller machine) services by banks with effect from April 1, 2009. Paving way for a transparent framework for levy of service charges on ATM usage, the RBI in a draft approach paper has proposed that no bank should increase the ATM charges prevailing as on December 23, 2007 while using other bank ATMs for cash withdrawals.
Suvidha Account with Citibank gives me this freedom. It’s very handy. The bank even called me to ask why I never use their ATM. There answer is there is no Citibank ATM anywhere to close to my house. They took my feedback.
