What’s Chyrp?

Chyrp, publicly released last Christmas is a lightweight blogging engine for self-hosted blog. Without the burden of installation, you can try a demo install for half an hour, similar to what opensourcecms.com lets you do.

There is WordPress, why another blogging engine?

Well, Chyrp doesn’t try to become another WordPress which the most used platform for blogging. It is more suited for a tumbleblog. A tumbleblog is a blog which has very brief posts, some post having just links.

Examples of tumbleblog:

* pratham.name
* CrunchNotes

Visit Chyrp website and try the demo.

You can also create a tumbleblog at tumblr.com. And lastly, check out what micro-blogging is, if you are new to the term.
