After much consideration, Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is to perform “emergency†recruitment starting next year of two batches of 70 each, to the Indian Police Service (IPS) from within the officers of central paramilitary
forces.Due to increase in operations in Naxal affected areas, the need to address to the shortage of IPS officers has topped the priority list. In the past, such an emergency recruitment had to be done during the Indo-China War in 1962. Several officers from the armed cadre were inducted into the civil services under a scheme that continued till 1973
