How do you put baby, small kids to sleep at night? Bed time stories? Cradle songs? I still remember that poem “Cradle Song”. The 1st chapter in our 3rd std English text. My aunt had a hard time teaching me the pronunciation of certain words in that poem. Some would carry their baby on their back, tied to their body with what we call nau puak puan, gently shaking their body in some kinda rythmic motion singing some folk/cradle songs. What we call in Mizo “Nau awi mu”.
While, this is what my friend did to a 2 year old. She was chatting with her friend , put him on speakers and made him say this loud “Lalhlimpui va mu rawh…..” a couple of times. Man!! that did wonder. The baby, terrified (I never said threaten babies. I am gonna become the GoodFather, you know that :-)) ran hidding behind her grandma dragging her to bed, off to sleep within minutes.
We made recording to play back when need comes. I’ll tell you it works.

akukukuku…..this reminds me…. back in 2003..my little cuz sister was stayin with us, she’s just a little girl 3 years old. She, without her mother, sometimes cry bitterly that it seems like someone had cut off her legs…I got an idea…once i recorded her ‘singing’ (cries) in the tape recorder and play it whenever she cries again…she gaze at the tape looking so blank…she stopped crying…hearing her own voice from the ‘thing’ ,,,,Dr. Sphinx saved the day…

Our Parents say “Go, to school so that you can prepare your-self for your life in the future” but the truth is that our life starts when we were born.
Parenting in the new Millennium may need to change..forcing the kids or threatening them will never work…
