the Royal couple’s first born was a lady girl and the Royal family was a tad disappointed since they wanted his son to be the direct successor to his father instead of the the current Emperor’s brother The baby becomes third in line to the throne, after Crown Prince Naruhito and his own father, Prince Akishino.
now that Princess Kiko has given birth to a boy the whole of Japan is celebrating..
knowing the Japs im sure they did something to make sure the next kid was a boy but thats just me..
BBC reports that this is the first male baby in the royal family for 40 years!

The child’s name has yet to be announced. In the case of the Crown Prince’s children, the choice of name must traditionally be approved by the Emperor, but Prince Akishino is allowed to make his own choice. “They must have consulted experts on the Chinese classics, so that the name won’t have been used before by other members of the imperial family, and the number of the strokes (in the characters of the name) is auspicious,” said Toshiya Matsuzaki, a journalist and expert on the royal family.
