35,000 litres of petrol saved during 3 day taxi stir

Sunday, September 24th, 2006

This is irony at its best!
An average of 12,000 liters of petrol was saved per day in Mizoram following a three-day taxi strike.

A survey by Zoram News Service revealed that petrol sales had dropped drastically by 40,000 litres in all the petrol tanks during the strike.

Hindu News

” Out-sales at all petrol bunks had dropped by 70 to 80 per cent during these three days,” a petrol pump owner said.

The total loss amounts to Rs one crore, sources said.

You’re beautiful….

Saturday, September 23rd, 2006

Never seen a cute face like that in my whole life. I wonder how the Almighty could create such a look. My eyes popped up when I saw that face. Wow, the smile…the smile on the face, so beautiful…thought I was melting down. I wish to see that face whole day long, that beautiful face. The nose, the eyes, the lips, the hairs…..everything was perfect. I gaze at it so much that at last I saw the wink on the beautiful face. Do I deserve that?? I was shocked, almost fainted. I knew from the look that, the body on which the head stands will be perfect from head to toe, though I’m not God.

I tried to take away my eyes from staring at the beautiful face. But I can’t, they automatically turn back and stared at the beautiful face again (which again turns my whole body). I knew from the expression on the face that the person was happy….I was glad too. If only I could give a handful of roses. The fragrance of the rose lies in the hand that gives the rose…I know that. But I have no money. I thought this was the so called ‘love-at-first-sight’. But I don’t believe in myself, I have no confidence. I thought of giving my love in words….but action speaks louder than words. What would I do? I don’t want to be a loser. I knew that a winner takes it all, and am trying to be the winner. I look at myself…I look good with my lounge suit. But I’m too shy.. please God help me. No man in this world could easily passes by, no man in this world could look at the face just once… I look at my watch and I was already getting late for work, then I turn my head away from the mirror!! I thank God for having such a handsome face… :gee:

Careful with trademarks

FB® is a trademark of Sandman :-). Some® is a trademark of This Guy. Something_else® is a trademark of That Guy. Ever ask why you see such statements? Did you know that a blog post titled “Microsoft Office 2007 review” is a trademark violation. What is the difference between ®, TM and SM.
Amit Agarwal tells you all, of evil, strict and interesting trade mark guidelines issued by Microsoft, Google and Adobe.

Sandman once told me Amit is like the kind of blogging. I didn’t take much interest to check out his blog Digital Inspiration then. This time, I happen to follow the link from desipundit.com.

Amit is a Computer Science graduate from IIT Roorkee and was working with a software company in Hyderabad before turning into a full time blogger.

says his brief profile at desipundit.

Sandman, sorry for making you the victim I again. All I ask is when you return, don’t hit me hard :-)

Man drops 50 Feet to grab his $20 bill

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

My first reaction? “What a dumb ass!” but then, $20 can be a lot when you’re broke!

Mark Giorgio figured a 50-foot fall was worth $20. Giorgio, 47, was counting his money Monday while walking across the U.S. 41 bridge over the Manatee River when a $20 bill blew out of his hand and flew over the rail.

He followed. And plummeted 50 feet into the river.

Then he swam about 100 yards to fish the bill from the water.

“I got my money back, hell yeah,” Giorgio told the Sarasota Herald- Tribune. “Twenty bucks is a lot of money when you’re broke.”

Game, Set and Match to Taxis in Who Created these Traffic Jams Anyway Standoff

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Three days after streets in Aizawl were a delight to cruise and you could get from Kulikawn to Zemabawk without meaninglessly wasting away an hour or two as you and your means of transport drowsily sat out the nasty, unrelenting traffic snarls, the Mizoram govt has meekly said Alrighty you’re the bosses, the kings of the roads, go ye forth and jam up the roads once more to the ZTOA. At a meeting in the DC’s office last evening, after hearing out the various grievances of the ZTOA, Pu Vanengmawia, DC, announced that the Aizawl SP Pu LT Hrangchal’s earlier order stood rescinded and taxis could mess up Aizawl streets in any sequence of numbers again. So it’s back to square one, folks. If I’m late for work again today, you know what I’m gonna blame :P

Govt pink-slips strikers

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

The Mizoram govt has come down heavily on Guest Lecturers who have been on strike for some time now. 131 persons who are employed in various colleges throughout the state on a part-time basis have been unceremoniously sacked. They have been demanding, among other things, for their posts to be regularised, their rather measly pay to be upped from 4500/- to 8000/- per month and that arrears be given with effect from April. Several of these GLs have been working in this capacity for the last couple of  years and have been rejecting more lucrative positions in hopes of having their posts regularised. The Mizoram College Guest Lecturers Association had met on Wednesday, the 20th September, resolving to carry on with their agitation until the govt agreed to their demands.

How to blog?

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

Sandman – the man of words , the renowned blogger and IIM_B dropout, basketball veteran, the man who got the first woman spread between his biceps and triceps, the quest who taught me how to make Irish coffee, warm and friendly but ready to piss off harmless consumer electronic like refrigerator, currently hiding in his Mumbai hideout, without cell phone, Internet connection, preparing furiously to get back at B school apart from doing his sister’s laundry and dishes :-D, isn’t high time you and other bloggers here talk about blogging –

How to blog?
What to blog?
Where to blog?
The joy and fun of blogging.

Bw with his vast knowledge on gay, it is surprising that he hardly writes on gay in his blog.

Gm with his unchallenged knowledge of football, he can definitely do better job for example – a blog on football , than rapidly switching girl friends. I even want to see him on the TV as a football commentator , a football columnist in sports magazine.

When I become a father with kids, I would like to able to say, look at that man on the TV, it’s uncle Gm. You switched to different channel and oh it’s uncle Bw in white three piece, an expert on Gay explaining to audience how he didn’t become a gay inspite of his knowledge on the subject. Even before you could hear what Bw has to explain, the door bell rings and it’s the delivery boy with the month’s edition of Business World. There’s goes Mr’s Rtz telling the kids ,”OMG!! it’s a cover story on Uncle Sandman , Sr. Marketing Director of Tattoo International on how the company earned billions from tattoo and how tattoo personally changed his life”.
