Horror Movies

Horror movies somehow have a charm of their own. Nothing like a good dose of fear in a dark movie hall or in the privacy of your room to bring some excitement to your life. The bad part is when you’re going to bed at night and you remember all those horrible scenes. Then nothing can save you except sleeping with the lights on.

My list of scariest horror movies:
1. The Exorcist.
2. The Grudge (Japanese version)
3. The Ring (English version, because I saw that first)
4. Nightmare on Elm street (the first part)
5. Shutter
6. The Ring 2
7. The Bonecutter (taking a taxi alone from the airport is now a near-death experience)
8. Bhoot
9. It (Stephen King)
10. The Others

I’ve probably missed a lot of good ones. ‘The Exorcist’ is a movie I blame for giving me a lot of sleepless nights. Watching horror movies when you’re a kid is not a good idea. It turns you into a paranoid little kid who’ll probably outgrow it only when you turn 50 or something.

‘The Grudge’ was so scary I never understood what the hell was the plot. Anyone who was brave enough to see and understand the whole movie please tell me what it was all about. ‘Bhoot’ is there because it scared me silly. Bollywood makes good horror movies because with their loud sound effects, they really give you a good scare- even if their endings mostly suck. Which contrast nicely with the super-subtle Japanese.

I’m still looking out for more horror movies. I guess it’s a kind of masochistic pleasure. I don’t really care. ‘Silence becomes You’ with Drew barrymore seems like a good bet. Gimme your list.

ya mean THE BIRD ALFRED HITCHCOCK maw …..if so, i wonder which was the scary part hehe or maybe i forgot to get scared coz i read sumthing on it…..seems like In western Mythology/ myth watever, the birds signify a mothers protectiveness (in the movie ya see the mother being very protective towards his son, so there were lotsa scenes where the son’s girlfren was attacked by the BIRDS)..something to do with signifier and signified i think…..boring stuff, something i read in a book…maybe thats why it wasnt so scary :)

The Grudge with Sarah Michelle Gellar was the scariest for me. i watched exorcist and didnt bat an eyelid. the ring semed like a”grudge ” bandwagon kinda ghost so i didnt take it seriously. i cant watch the Grudge by myself during the day coz i just never get used to it though i have watched it ovrer 5 times – i know exactly what will happen when it happens but i still cant help feeling uneasy about it. i have even gotten the real names of the toshio and family and i know that they arejust actors but the damn film still scares me witless. can the kid who played Toshio watch the movie himself ?
