I love sneakers. Nikes, Adidas, Reeboks, Air Jordans, Ecko, And-1s, Converse, Phat Farm, DC’s, Bape, K-Swiss, Zoo York, K1X, 310 etc etc… I love em all and i’m sure a lot of you out there may have probably at some point had a phase about it.
I remember when I had my first pair of sneakers. I was 7 and my dad got me a pair of Reebok Pumps. I wore those shoes everyday. I think I even slept with em. I wore em everywhere. It’s such a good feeling to wear a pair of brand new sneakers, especially on a basketball court. I swear they make you feel like you could jump higher or run faster. But most importantly, it make you look cool as f**k. I’m sure you all know that feeling. I’m pretty sure.
Anyway, it’s been like 16 years since those first pair of Reebok Pumps adorned my feet. And up till now, my love relationship with sneakers has grown a bit more serious. The sneaker culture is a big thing especially in the US of A that collectors are even willing to pay thousands of dollars for retro Air Jordans, Nike Air Force 1’s and other brands.
Last month in Australia, they reissued the Air Jordan 1’s. Only a few thousand pairs at a retail price of $359.95. They sold out in 20 minutes. 20 MINUTES. A month afterwards, I went to Footlocker all jittery and excited, trying to procure myself a pair. They basically laughed me out of the store. But finally after a lot of searching, I managed to find a small downtown shop where they let me order a pair for $600 AUD. It was hard. It was hard. But being a hardcore sneaker head, I had to go home with a wallet 600 bucks lighter. You guys feel me on this?

i Used to ask ma dad to buy me diff kinds of the sports shoes.
Now that i buy my own, am wearing a 150 (myanmar made) converse pair. hehe

My first real sneakers was a pair of Reebok Blacktop in around 1994. I somehow pursuaded my mom to part with the 2000, or so, hard earned rupees… my dad wasn’t very pleased. I still don’t feel very good abt it till this day… the 28th of May, 2007
