Aizawl, June 7 (PTI): Mizoram has the highest incidence of cancer in the country with 483 people dying every year from the dreaded disease in the state since 2003.
* 1,079 new cancer cases are reported in the state annually
* Experts claimed that extensive use of tobacco as the main cause
* What can the Government do about this?
* Forget government, what of the powerful NGO’s ?
And indivually, what can we do?
* Avoid smoked foods. I do eat when it’s served but I stop taking initiative to bring in smoked foods.
* Help friends and relatives stop smoking. I don’t smoke
* Date someone who does not smoke 
Or help your date stop/minimize tobacco consumption

i can answer that. The NGOs and Govt will just say “Natna leh thihna te hi chu pathian remruat ani e”..
Cos fighting cancer wont be profitable for them…

Few years ago when my uncle died of cancer, I mentioned to my cousin that it cannot only be the smoked food or tobacco use that causes cancer.
It is alarming to see the sanitation situation in Mizoram, especially in Aizawl where open drains runs through every locality and then when it rains, it seeps through the soil, and this water must make its way to the TUIKHUR where many people still draws water. This, I believe besides waterborne diseases must have its affect on the health of the people. Maybe it is time that experts are called to examine our water…..
