The Chronicles founded by former Newslink Editor David M Thangliana (known as dmt on the net) with partner is now known as Aizol Times. Below is extract from Monday’s issue of Aizol Times.
As already informed to our readers, we regret the inconvenience caused due to the non-publication of our paper on Friday and Saturday. As we have pointed out, difficulties in the title ‘The Chronicles’ had forced us to temporarily stop the publication but we arehappy to announce that from today onwards, The Chronicles is Aizol Times, the first and oldest newspaper to come out in the English language in Mizoram.
In regard to the new title, we are extremely grateful to the family members of the late Pu H.K. Bawichhuaka, who owns Aizol Times, for giving ustheir kind permission to publish our paper under this title. This paper will always strive to live up to the ideals and principles of Pu Bawichhuaka, one of the pioneer politicians of Mizoram whose name has never been tainted by hints of corruption and self interests during his long political career. To give a short history of Aizol Times, the title was approved by the RNI Office, New Delhi on July 21, 1972 and publication was begun from this year itself as a weekly newspaper. However, with ‘Aijal’ having become ‘Aizawl’ in 1972 when the Union Territory status was conferred to Mizoram, the paper was published as ‘Aizawl Times’ and not ‘Aizol Times’. However, since the paper has been registered as ‘Aizol Times’ by the RNI office, the present management believes it best that the title is carried on as approved as a result of which the spelling of Aizawl may seem a bit odd. Readers are kindly requested to overlook this fact and concentrate on the contents instead.
We assure readers of the same commitment towards the welfare of the people, non-partisanship in political affairs and integrity in news reporting as was
in The Chronicles and Newslink under David M. Thangliana.

I donwloaded the pdf file containing June 25 issue of Izol Times. In the context of Mizoram press, integrity is a major issue as printed newspapers are desperate to get advertisements from the state government, and feel obliqued to publish activities of ministers and other boring news. From June 25 issue at least, they seem to remain loyal.
Will somebody post every issue of Izol Times for non-residents, please.

Heh! The Chronicles published my blog post, under the name of a certain ‘Rema’ and source – ‘zoram.com’ Am pretty darned pissed!
Am not a zoram.com user, not even a visitor. Not only was material that “I” wrote published without my permission, they’ve very cutely failed to even give me/my blog credit even after that.
My email was never answered, some half-assed apology to a friend who called them on my behalf supposedly suffices. This is so NOt done! I swear if it wasn’t Mizoram, I’d sue. God knows I sure do need some court-won moolah.

Dear Maimawm,
Just read this post from Goldy’s message. What have you done about it till now? You can try contacting my nephew Gilbert (G-Wiz), I’m sure he can help out. Even for me, a couple of my articles appeared in Newslink (before the split) when I was at home a couple of months ago. Imagine my surprise when I opened up the newspaper one fine morning to find my entire articles there. Of course I was not pissed like you as they gave me the correct credit (just my name though, not my blog addy), but at least I thought it would be nice to be informed that my article was going to appear there… you know… a little heads-up… But had I been credited wrongly, I don’t know how I would have reacted My empathy with you, dear.
