Mizo news in English

May 26th, 2008 4:31 pm by Arpan Sharma

Guys, can anyone direct me to a web site that has news from Mizoram in English? I used to religiously follow Newslink and then Aizol Times. But the Aizol Times web site has not been updated in many months and its very difficult for people like me, whose Mizo Tawng is scratchy at best to keep up with developments in the state. I wonder if anyone will be able to help. Thanks in advance.

I read some weeks ago at zawlbuk.net that they would also start publishing Newslink news. But that is yet to happen.

The best option now is to set a Google Alert with the keywords Mizo, Mizoram, Aizawl.

DIPR sometimes publishes news in English.

I think they should have a dedicated English section.

None of the above, almost. https://www.zoram.com have been hibernated about 24 months.Aizol Times also has been sleeping for more than 10 months. DIPR will provide official propaganda.
Mr.Sharma, therefore, although Google news cover very few local news, it may be about the only reliable source for news in English about this state. Interestingly ethnic Mizos from Myanmar and Manipur have some websites in English covering news about this state. In this state itself, only a few hundred people use internet for news regularly.

Thanks for all the reponses. From what I gather, it does not appear that news originating from within the state (as oppposed to news about the state, that is available through google alerts) can be accessed by an audience that does not follow Mizo tawng. Rather sad. Misual, though is a good way of keeping in touch , though its not necessarily newsy, and I do enjoy reading through it regularly. Maybe some more English traffic on Misual will help people like me.
